This Cup of Coffee Costs $16; McDonald's Lobster Roll Is Back

Five things to know today

Happy Monday. In today's vital food news: a $16 cup of coffee; recognizing the world's best wine lists; why you're so obsessed with LaCroix sparkling water; Starbucks is giving double rewards this week; and McDonald's lobster roll rears its ugly head again.

— Lobster rolls are a symbol of summer in the Northeast, even at the drive-thru window. McDonald's is unleashing its lobster roll on 600 New England locations today; the so-called McLobster is $8.99. (According to Eater editor and former Maine resident Adam Callaghan, who reviewed the sandwich last year, "there's no reason for its existence.")

— When is a cup of coffee worth more than $10? Probably never. But coffee nerds with money to burn can hand their wad of cash over to Blue Bottle: The cult-favorite roaster is currently peddling a Yemeni-grown specialty coffee called Port of Mokha that will run caffeine fiends $16 a cup, or $65 for a six-ounce bag of beans.

— Starbucks recently changed its rewards program, and people were pissed — but they may be pleased to learn that the coffee giant is offering double stars all this week. Now through June 26, members will earn earn four stars (instead of two) for every $1 spent. We can almost taste that free Frappuccino.

— LaCroix sparkling water has a devoted following, but how did it get so popular? Vox chronicles the fruit-flavored, calorie-free beverage's rise from a Midwestern cult favorite to "an unlikely breakout hit."

— Attention, oenophiles: Fresh on the heels of the controversial World's 50 Best Restaurants list comes the World's Best Wine List awards. Presented by British magazine World of Fine Wine, the number-one spot belongs to Joel Robuchon's Robuchon au Dome at Hotel Lisboa in Macau; number two is Vienna's Palais Coburg, and Eleven Madison Park in New York snagged the third spot.
