Is Robert Irvine the Next Dr. Phil?

Nordic ramen in Copenhagen

— Is Robert Irvine destined to be the next Dr. Phil? The Dinner Impossible chef is getting a new series, and it has nothing to do with cooking: The Robert Irvine Show is a "60-minute daytime conflict resolution talker" that will premiere on the CW in September and will feature Irvine "providing help to families with his signature 'tough love' approach to therapeutic work." Okay then.

— Chef David Waltuck, who headed up NYC's since-closed Chanterelle (and more recently, Élan) has a new gig: He's been appointed director of culinary affairs at NYC's Institute of Culinary Education (better known as ICE). The Beard Award-winning chef will also serve as a chef-instructor for the school's culinary arts, professional development, and recreational cooking programs.

— Copenhagen is getting some impressively pedigreed new ramen. Christian Puglisi — a former sous chef at Rene Redzépi's Nordic sensation Noma who brought Denmark a number of concepts including Relae — is joining forces with the team behind a string of recent ramen pop-ups to open a brick-and-mortar spot. Called Hrimnir Ramen, it will take a local, organic approach to the insanely popular Japanese dish; they're even working with local farmers to grow a Danish wheat perfect for alkaline noodles. Look for it to open in early fall.

— Raw food celebrity chef Matthew Kenney, who's brought the world a number of vegan concepts including a recently opened NYC pizzeria, is launching a "plant-based lifestyle destination" in Thailand called Inner Sanctuary. So... a vegan resort? Yes: Located within an eco-friendly resort in Hua Hin, it will feature yoga, meditation, lotus ponds, and Matthew Kenney Culinary, "Asia’s first classically structured plant-based academy." It's slated to open in December; don't everyone try to book at all once, now.
