American Beef Palace Smith & Wollensky Expands to London

It's the steakhouse's first location outside the U.S.

Swanky American steakhouse chain Smith & Wollensky has made it across the pond: The Boston-based restaurant just opened its first location outside the U.S. Located just off The Strand in central London. The restaurant resides in the historic Adelphi Building.

Decked out in Smith & Wollensky's usual green-and-white theme with plenty of mahogany, leather booths, and 1920s-inspired artwork, its two stories include a dry-aging room, two bars, two main dining rooms. There is also a private "Teddy Roosevelt Room" with its own dedicated bartender.

Founded in 1977, Smith & Wollensky currently has owns and operates locations in Miami, Chicago, Las Vegas, Washington D.C., Houston, Boston, and Columbus, Ohio.

The steakhouse is just the latest American brand to cross the pond: Burger sensation Shake Shack recently opened its second London location, and on a more artisanal note, hip Brooklyn chocolatiers, the Mast Brothers, opened a store and factory in London earlier this year.
