Sources allege that the chain is launching of a beefed-up Quarter Pounder patty.
The McDonald's Quarter Pounder may be getting meatier, according to CNBC. The news agency reports it gained exclusive access to an internal document from McDonald's that discloses a plan to increase the size of Quarter Pounder patties from 4 ounces before cooking to 4.25 ounces. While the chain declined to discuss the super-sized item, the company tells CNBC:
We're always innovating around McDonald's food, drinks and restaurant experience based on customers' preferences, and that includes hotter food and reviewing cooking procedures, and we'll share more details soon.
One franchisee director of operations corroborates the report saying the patties will debut "within the next month."
McDonald's has been playing damage control as the chain announced plummeting sales earlier this year. The fast food giant is toying with all-day breakfast, take-out boxes for bicyclists, and even backtracked on its disdain for kale. Regardless of whether or not the restaurant goes ahead with the bigger burger patty, Quarter Pounders is still sure to prove a distracting meal for drivers looking for a quick bite on the road.
