McDonald's Adds Lobster Rolls to Menus Across New England

They cost $8.

Is America ready for the return of the McLobster roll? According to Fox CT, the chain added the swanky sandwich to menus across New England last Saturday. The lobster roll is made with "100 percent North Atlantic lobster and mayonnaise" that is loaded onto a bed of lettuce stuffed between a toasted bun. What may be McDonald's most indulgent item — it comes with a $7.99 price tag — is actually one of its healthiest. The lobster roll clocks in at only 290 calories. (The Big Mac by comparison has 530 calories.)

This isn't the first time American McDonald's have sold lobster rolls, but it is the first time in 10 years that the sandwich is on offer. A McDonald's spokesperson tells the news channel: "The return of the Lobster Roll is exciting because we have requests for it every summer."

McDonald's locations in Canada have also recently added a lobster roll to their menus. The McLobster is made a bit differently than its American counterpart. In Canada the sandwiches include shredded lettuce, diced celery, and lemon flavoring in addition to the lobster and mayonnaise. The verdict so far? It's not that bad, just the bread is "subpar."
