Restaurant Cook Stabs Co-Worker During Argument Over Gumbo Spices

The victim died from his injuries.

Gumbo is something not many take lightly, and a man was recently killed during an argument over a recipe. According to the Tallahassee Democrat, Caleb Joshua Halley — who formerly donned the Florida State University mascot costume — was stabbed by his co-worker at Buddy's Seafood Market in Panama City Beach, Fla.

Halley was arguing with 26-year-old Orlando Thompson over the spices that should go into the restaurant's gumbo last week and the situation escalated quickly. Halley reached for a "small wooden knife," while Thompson grabbed a wooden board to defend himself. Thompson then "retreated and returned with a knife." He slashed Halley three times across the torso. Halley was taken to a hospital where he died from his injuries, and Thompson was arrested on charges of manslaughter.

This isn't the first time people have turned to extreme measures over small arguments. In March, a 64-year-old New Orleans resident was drinking beers with his friend, but the night ended poorly: The man's drinking companion brought him a new beer, but it wasn't the brand he preferred so he shot his friend and walked away.
