Michael Jordan Is Opening Another Restaurant

It's planned for the same Florida town that is home to Tiger Woods's recently opened eatery

NBA legend Michael Jordan has conquered basketball and baseball — well, maybe not baseball — and now he's taking another step toward dominating a new industry. He and 12 other owners plan to open a 375-seat restaurant on the Atlantic Coast in Jupiter, Fla., according to the Palm Beach Post.

Jordan, who owns a home in the area, invested in the 18,000-square-foot restaurant, which will offer views of the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and could open by the end of 2017 if all the necessary approvals are granted. A proposal indicates the existing building on the site of the restaurant — named 1000 North — will be torn down, and construction on a new structure will begin this summer. 1000 North will be the third restaurant to Jordan's name. His Airness also operates steakhouses in Chicago and New York.

The town just north of West Palm Beach is already home to another sports star's restaurant. Tiger Woods opened The Woods Jupiter there last fall after pouring $8 million into the venture.

Other basketball icons have jumped into the restaurant business, including former NBA player Ray Allen, who opened a restaurant with his wife in Miami, and LeBron James, who has thrown his support toward the fast-casual pizza restaurant Blaze.
