The new beverages are available in limited cities around the country
Caribou Coffee has added a new product to its lineup that bears a resemblance to rival Starbucks's carry-out products. The Minnesota-based chain introduced a selection of bottled iced coffees in select locations around the United States, mostly concentrated in the Midwest and Colorado, according to Brand Eating.
The coffees come in three flavors: chocolate mocha, sea salt caramel, and vanilla, and the beverages are available at retailers in Minneapolis, Omaha, Des Moines, and Denver. Caribou's new product is available in either 14- or 32-ounce containers and costs $2.99 or $3.49, depending on the size.
Starbucks already has a hefty lineup of bottled coffee beverages, ranging from its signature Frappuccino flavors to "iced espresso classics" such as the vanilla latte and caffe mocha. The company also has plans to launch a bottled version of its cold brew.
Cold coffee is gaining popularity in the United States, with more retailers such as Dunkin' Donuts jumping on the cold brew train. In particular, there's an escalation of specialty items such as nitro and draft coffees, as Bloomberg has noted.
Even smaller-scale coffee places are increasingly making moves to offer more than just in-store service, adding canned versions of their beverages for customers to purchase independently. In March, Philadelphia-based La Colombe made that move with its draft latte.
