Millennials love communal tables and nice meals.
These days, it appears as if millennials are the only people restaurants are interested in trying to woo. Restaurants are willing to re-do their interior design, change up the menu, and make their food more instagrammable to lure in those born between 1980 and 2000. This is for good reason though: A new infographic from marketing company Restaurant Marketing Labs shows that on average millennials spend more on dining out each month than non-millennials. Below, some more stats about the dining habits of millennials — a group that makes up 25 percent of the U.S. population.
$2.45 Trillion: The spending power of millennials.
$174: Amount per month millennials spend on eating out per month on average. Non-millennials spend $153 per month.
55: The percentage of millennials that prefer communal tables at restaurants.
87: The percentage of millennials that will "splurge on a nice meal, even when money is tight."
68: The percentage of millennials that will ask friends before picking a restaurant.
30: The percentage of millennials that "eat foods that are certified organic."
40: The percentage of millennials that will order different things every time they visit the same restaurant. Millennials like variety.
60: The percentage of millennials that follow brands (including restaurants chains) they like on social media "to hear about new deals or coupons."
56: The percentage of millennials in America that would share their location (on apps like Foursquare) to receive a deal at a restaurant.
