The 10 Hottest Restaurants in Melbourne Right Now

Where to eat in Australia's coastal capital

Today, Eater travels back down under to celebrate the buzziest new restaurants in Melbourne, Australia, the nation's second-largest city. As with our recent Sydney Heatmap update, restaurant expert and Fully Booked founder Sharlee Gibb shares her picks for the drinking and dining destinations that have created serious buzz in the past year.

Many familiar Melbourne names are waving waves with new concepts. Prolific restaurateur Con Christopoulos adds a Francophile bar to his portfolio with the opening of French Saloon; at the brilliantly named Lawyers, Guns & Money, chef Victor Liong serves up congee and Hong Kong-style French toast at the daytime-only Chinese restaurant. Last year's white-hot, "wildly creative" pop-up IDES has finally found a permanent home —€” but keeps some of its spontaneous identity intact with monthly themed buffets. And elsewhere, chef Thi Li explores her own heritage at the Vietnamese/Australian modern spot Anchovy. Here now, and in no particular order, the Eater Heatmap for Melbourne:
