No big surprises here
Over at men's mag GQ, Brett Martin just unveiled his (alphabetical) list of the dozen best new restaurants across the country. Unsurprisingly, LA and New York were the big winners with three spots each: His picks in LA include strip mall ode to fermentation Baroo, while in New York, Danny Meyer's Untitled at the Whitney Museum made the list along with Wildair (which Eater NY critic Ryan Sutton dubbed "this generation's Gramercy Tavern").
San Francisco snagged two spots on the list including Dominique Crenn's Petit Crenn; rounding out the rest of the list are Atlanta, Chicago, New Orleans, and Honolulu with one pick each, including NOLA's James Beard Award-winning Shaya.
Martin's list is notably more concise than last year's list assembled by former critic Alan Richman, which included 25 restaurants.
Martin's full list of picks, below:
- Baroo, LA
- Cassia, Santa Monica
- Mimi, NYC
- Monteverde, Chicago,
- Moruno, LA
- Mud Hen Water, Honolulu
- Petit Crenn, SF
- Shaya, New Orleans
- Staplehouse, Atlanta
- The Perennial, SF
