Flour Contaminated WIth Peanuts Triggers Recalls at Chick-fil-A, Cinnabon

Food allergy sufferers, beware

Flour contaminated with peanuts has led to recalls at a slew of stores nationwide, including Chick-fil-A, Cinnabon, 7-Eleven, and grocery stores like Safeway and Jewel.

According to Food Safety News, the recalls affect baked goods prepared using "flour containing low levels of undeclared peanut and supplied to CSM Bakery Solutions in Tucker, GA." CSM would not disclose the name of the flour manufacturer, but said the company has arranged for a different flour source.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration lists several items affected by the flour recall: Chick-Fil-A chocolate chunk cookies; Cinnabon's Cinnabon Stix; and red velvet cake and decorated chocolate chip cookies available at ACME, Safeway, and Jewel. There are additional items being recalled due to undeclared peanuts in flour supplied to a company called Bakery Express, including 7-Eleven's "Fresh To-Go" cookies.

The vast number of food recalls in the U.S. is enough to give consumers information fatigue — one of the many reasons it's become so important to catch affected products before they hit shelves.
