Twin Peaks in Waco, Site of Deadly Gun Battle, Will Permanently Close

The Twin Peaks corporate office announced Monday it was closing the Waco franchise permanently.

The Twin Peaks restaurant franchise in Waco, Texas, the site of a bloody gun battle between rival biker gangs that left 9 dead and 18 wounded yesterday, will be shutting down forever, according to KWTX.

Twin Peaks, the highly-profitable Texas-based restaurant chain with $165 million in annual sales and approximately 60 locations, announced Monday that it would be revoking the franchise agreement of the Waco restaurant.

According to the Twin Peaks corporate office, Waco management failed to act on advice that trouble with biker gangs, who heavily frequented that particular Twin Peaks restaurant, was reaching a boiling point. A statement from the company read:

"We are in the people business and the safety of the employees and guests in our restaurants is priority one.

"Unfortunately the management team of the franchised restaurant in Waco chose to ignore the warnings and advice from both the police and our company, and did not uphold the high security standards we have in place to ensure everyone is safe at our restaurants.

"We will not tolerate the actions of this relatively new franchisee and are revoking their franchise agreement immediately. Our sympathies continue to be with the families of those who died and are very thankful no employees, guests, police officers or bystanders were hurt or injured."

Approximately 170 suspects were arrested and they all face possible murder-related charges. They are all being held on $1 million bond each. Amazingly, the killed and injured were all bikers; no police officers or bystanders were hurt in the gun fight. According to law enforcement, this incident was the worst violence in Waco since the 1993 raid on the Branch Davidian compound that left 86 people dead.
