That Noma Documentary Launches Indiegogo Campaign

The team needs money for post-production costs.

That documentary about Noma that portrays chef René Redzepi as a "modern ugly duckling" needs some help getting finished. Director Pierre Deschamps has launched an Indiegogo campaign to raise funds to complete post-production — i.e. sounding mixing and color grading — on the film. Dechamps writes that he has over 100 hours of "amazing footage shot over a period of 33 months offering unique insight" into the famed Copenhagen restaurant and its chef. He's looking to gather $50,000 to help put it all together.

The film — which is titled Noma My Perfect Storm — was supposed to be released last year but has faced a number of delays. It focuses on Redzepi "fighting his way back to the top, and reclaiming the title of best restaurant in the world for the fourth time." Noma held the top spot on S. Pellegrino's "World's 50 Best Restaurants" list for a number of years before losing the title in 2013. The restaurant won the top spot again in 2014.

The film's international distributor says that a promo for the film will be shown at Cannes later this month. But those who donate to the Indiegogo campaign will be able to see the trailer "before its official launch." Other perks include a "classy" Noma My Perfect Storm apron for a $30 donation, a set of branded kitchen towels for $39, and a chance to be an executive producer for a mere $10,000. So far, the campaign has raised $2,032 with 36 days left to go.
