The menu includes "doggy gelato" and "pooch hooch"
Die-hard brunchers often use the meal to spend time with friends, so why not man's best friend? Metro reports that the London restaurant Bluebird is launching a dog-friendly "Bites and Bones Pop-Up" this month with a three-course, puppy-centric brunch menu. From April 27 through May 1, the Chelsea eatery encourages dog owners to bring a "beloved pet pooch to our courtyard and treat them to a real ‘Michelin-star' style doggy dining experience."
The event is a promotion in partnership with London-based pet supply and grooming company Pet Pavilion. Brunch loving pups will start off with venison sausage, beefy brown rice, and beef broth, followed by chicken and lamb "Barkenberg" loaf with a sweet potato and peanut butter macaroon filled with "doggy gelato" for dessert. Fidos that attend the VIP launch will also get to sip a dog beer aka "Pooch Hooch." The pop-up also includes grooming workshops and other activities for pets.
Dog brunch may be a novelty, but pet-friendly dining experiences are far from unusual. The Curious Canine Kitchen debuted as Britain's "first, holistic, pop-up fine diner for dogs." The U.K. also welcomed with world's first doggy ice cream truck in 2010, and a deli in Berlin, Germany, serves gourmet products made exclusively for pets. Of course, feline lovers refuse to be left out of the mix. For a limited time this year, Purina Mon Petit brand cat food offered a special service that catered meals exclusively for owners and their cats.
