Book News & Reviews: Jourdan Dunn, a Brewer's Guide, More

Plus a look inside Octaphilosophy, a new cookbook from chef André Chiang of Singapore's Restaurant André

And now, the latest news in cookbook deals. Chrissy Teigen's recently released cookbook has been a giant success, so it's no surprise other models want to follow in her footsteps. The next famous face to get into the cookbook game will be British fashion model Jourdan Dunn. Dunn is no stranger to culinary endeavors, having already hosted a YouTube cooking show called Well Dunn. Little is known about the book just yet (including a possible release date), but Dunn has Caribbean heritage and says she's also a fan of Thai and South Asian food.

Published today by Phaidon is the highly anticipated Octaphilosophy, a cookbook from chef André Chiang of Singapore's Restaurant André (currently ranked third on the Asia's 50 Best Restaurants list). The book revolves around Chiang's eight idiosyncratic elements of gastronomy: salt, texture, memory, pure, terroir, south, artisan, and unique. The book includes "dramatic snacks, precisely crafted dishes and meticulous sweets over each season, [plus] the stories and processes behind each dish." Here's a look inside:

Here's a new book for beer nerds following the barrel-aging trend: Written by brewing icons Dick Cantwell (co-founder of Elysian Brewing Company) and Peter Bouckaert (head brewer for New Belgium), Wood & Beer: A Brewer’s Guide "explores the many influences of wood as a vehicle for contributing tremendous complexity to beers fermented and aged within it."

Also in the works: Michael Blutrich's SCORES, a memoir by the owner of the high-end NYC strip club of the same name that had ties to the Gambino organized crime family, was picked up by Gaumont International Television.
