Coachella's Chef Lineup; Pizza Summit in Chicago

Plus, Dominique Crenn at a design conference in SF

Four noteworthy food events to check out this month across the country:

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA—Mega music fest Coachella takes over Indio, California for two weekends next month (April 15-17 and 22-24), and all those girls in flower crowns have to eat something: Once again, the festival will throw a massive outdoor dinner party called Outstanding in the Field, and the chef lineup includes some notable names like Michael Voltaggio, Chris Oh, Antonia Lofaso, and Nyesha Arrington. Tickets aren't cheap at $225, but they do include booze. Stay tuned for the lineup of festival food vendors; last year's list included Roy Choi and LA breakfast sandwich sensation Eggslut.

NEW YORK—80 of the world's top pastry chefs will gather in New York City for a sugar-fueled charity event, Around the World in 80 Sweets: An Evening with the World's Best Pastry Chefs, on April 4. The lineup includes macaron master Pierre Hermé, Paris patissier Sadaharu Aoki, and NYC's own French wonder François Payard; chefs including Geoffrey Zakarian, Anita Lo, Bill Telepan, and Marcus Samuelsson will provide savory bites to counteract all the sweetness. Tickets are $125 and proceeds go to City Harvest.

CHICAGO—Regardless of your feelings about the city's beloved deep-dish, an event called the Chicago Pizza Summit sounds like one not to be missed. This 21-and-up event will be held April 3 at butcher/deli/bar/restaurant Chop Shop (sounds cool already, no?) with food from 12 different pizzerias; weirdly enough, musician/partying advocate Andrew W.K. will be giving a keynote speech. The $35 ticket price includes unlimited pizza plus drink tickets.

SAN FRANCISCO—Bloomberg Business Week is hosting its 2016 Design Conferenceon April 11 at SF's Yerba Buena Center, and speaking on "The Design of Food" will be Dominique Crenn, chef/owner of tasting menu-only restaurant Atelier Crenn. Here's a sneak peek:
