Starbucks, McDonald's, and more shut down stores in Belgium today
Terror attacks in Belgium killed dozens of people Tuesday and sent shockwaves throughout the world, prompting the closure of a number of American-owned businesses in the area. According to Bloomberg. Starbucks and Domino's have closed all their locations in Brussels, while McDonald's has closed one of its stores.
The attacks occurred at Brussels Airport and in a metro station, as Vox reports. Starbucks released a statement on its website, saying "initial indications are that an explosion took place outside our store within the airport." One employee was injured, and the company will keep its locations closed until further notice. McDonald's Belgium posted a note of condolences about the attacks on its Facebook page.
As Bloomberg reports, Pizza Hut has not put out word on whether its locations in the area have closed; Eater has reached out to the company for details on the status of its restaurants and employees' safety.
In November, terror attacks in Paris targeted a number of restaurants and cafes with gunmen and suicide bombers; all of said restaurants have now reopened as of yesterday.
