The ad invited customers to "touch our breasts"
A popular UK-based chicken chain is drawing criticism for a newspaper ad it ran in India. Nando's published a suggestive advertisement in the English-language Hindustan Times that invited customers to "touch our breasts," reports The Drum, sparking outrage from readers and eventually urging the company to issue an apology.
The ad invited customers to go utensil-free when eating the restaurant's chicken, reading, "We don't mind if you touch our buns, or breasts, or even our thighs. Whatever you're into, enjoying any Nando's meal with your hands is always recommended."
Customers took to Twitter to share their feelings on the ad:
Your marketing teams wouldn't have this in Europe or the US @NandosUK why is it ok in India? http://pic.twitter.com/NBXNah0EgV

Dear #Nando's is your food so inedible that you have to rely on lines from a bad C grade movie to sell it?

Nando's India took to its social media channels to apologize, issuing a statement to both Twitter and Facebook:
We sincerely apologise for any offense caused by our ad published today. Our intent was not to offend anyone. We promise to do better.

While clearly a pretty poor move on the part of Nando's advertising department, it was nowhere near as bad as the Pakistan sandwich restaurant that has sandwiches named after famous abusers such as Mike Tyson and Chris Brown. At any rate, surely there are better ways to market chicken.
