The product line is intended to help women deal with menstrual pain
The latest celebrity to delve into the marijuana business is Whoopi Goldberg. The co-host of The View and star of such films as Ghost and Sister Act is launching a line of cannabis products for women, reports The New York Times.
The product line will include bath salts, tinctures, creams, and most importantly, chocolates; the Times quotes Goldberg as saying, "This was all inspired by my own experience from a lifetime of difficult periods and the fact that cannabis was literally the only thing that gave me relief." Called Whoopi & Maya, the line was developed in conjunction with weed industry vet Maya Elisabeth. Although marijuana is now legal for recreational use in four states, and medicinal use in 19 more, Goldberg's products will only be available in California for the time being.
As the Times notes, music legend Willie Nelson is developing his own branded line of weed; meanwhile, reality TV maven Bethenny Frankel has considered launching her own brand of marijuana specially developed not to give you the munchies (to go along with her Skinnygirl line of cocktail mixers, natch). Meanwhile in the culinary world, pastry chef Mindy Segal is working on a line of high-end marijuana edibles.
