Travel Channel Picks Up New Andrew Zimmern Show, Forgives Adam Richman

'Driven By Food' and 'Secret Eats' hit airwaves this summer

Travel Channel is doubling down on its food-focused programming this spring with two new series featuring familiar hosts.

James Beard award-winning chef Andrew Zimmern, known for indulging in fine and obscure cuisine (like worm poop) on his show Bizarre Foods, takes his TV talents in a different direction this summer, this time exploring the way locals experience popular travel destinations. In Andrew Zimmern's Driven By Food, Zimmern leans on locals as his tour guides and tests out off-the-radar spots while exploring cities like Kashmir and Venice. The show is all about going behind the scenes and avoiding tourist traps in popular dining destinations. Driven By Food premieres this August, two months after the start of the newest Bizarre Foods season.

Meanwhile, former Man Versus Food host Adam Richman — perhaps best known for an Instagram tirade that resulted in Travel Channel canceling his show in 2014 — scored a new show: Secret Eats with Adam Richman. In this new series Richman will seek out dining spots that are off the beaten path in cities around the world, but will also focus on uncovering off-menu items. Secret Eats premieres this July. It's safe to assume Richman has hired someone to handle social media promotion so as to avoid inadvertently telling anyone to "[g]rab a razor blade and draw a bath. I doubt anyone will miss you."
