Plus, here's a fun video of Alton eating french fries in bed
America's favorite bespectacled food geek and cooking show host Alton Brown is coming out with a new book this fall called EveryDayCook. Today, he revealed the cover on Facebook.
Brown also announced the book on Instagram: "So, here's the new book, available for preorder now (link in profile). It's my first in 5 years and this time it's personal. Photography by @sarahdeheer and styling by @stirandscribble." Late last year it was revealed that the entire book would be shot on an iPhone, and it appears as though Brown's cookbook promo video was also shot with a mobile phone. Per a release, the book contains "recipes that Alton cooks for himself every day or what he might cook for you if you came over." (How do we score that invite?)

Alton in his own words: "There's still plenty of science and hopefully some humor here (my agent says that's my 'wheelhouse') but unlike my other books, a lot of attention went into the photos, which were actually taken with my iPhone (take that, Instagram) and are suitable for framing."
The recipes sound significantly less straightforward than recipes in Brown's previous books, but are just as playful. Think: buttermilk lassi; nitrous pancakes; lacquered bacon; seedy date bars; Smokey the Meat Loaf; fish sticks and custard; onion oxtail soup; Mussels-O-Miso; Garam Masalmon Steaks; cider house fondue; Open Sesame Noodles; and midnight mug cake for 2.
Brown also included recipes for a green grape cobbler, savory Greek yogurt dip, sardine paté, peach punch pops, and roasted chile salsa. In total, there will be 101 recipes in the new book as well as "artful photos, a plethora of useful insights on methods, tools, and ingredients."
Alton Brown's EveryDayCook hits bookstores and the internet on September 27, but is available for pre-order now.
