World's Worst Santa Claus Skips Lunch, Robs KFC

There was no chimney, so he went through the drive-in window

Ho-ho-no: A man dressed up as Santa Claus robbed a KFC in the UK this past weekend. According to several reports, the man skipped lunch and instead climbed through the drive-thru window of a KFC location in Hockley Way, Alfreton, Derbyshire and demanded cash. Claus welded a knife while forcing employees to open the restaurant's safe; there wasn't much in the till. Fast food operations generally keep less than $300 (about 200 GBP) in their safe at any given time.

According to the police report the man was wearing "a red hat, red trousers, and a red jacket" over a black shirt. His face was covered not by a lush, white beard but by a mask. He has not been caught and is still at large. The KFC location has since reopened. Perhaps the police should leave a plate of cookies out on Christmas Eve.

A possibly irony is that KFC is Japan's favorite Christmas tradition, according to a report on Vox.com. On Christmas Eve, thousands of people in Japan flock to KFC locations throughout the country to order buckets of original or extra-crispy chicken legs, thighs, and breasts. It's all because of a 1974 marketing campaign called "Kurisumasu ni wa kentakkii!" (Kentucky for Christmas!). The campaign was so successful Japanese people buy more KFC chicken in the days leading up to December 25 than during any other two week period during the year. Suffice to say, Santa would never rob KFC in Japan.
