Chick-Fil-A Customer Starts All-Out Brawl Over Waffle Fries

Fast food isn't worth an assault charge.

Chick-fil-A is no place to play chicken. Earlier this week, a drive-thru customer at a Chick-fil-A location in Aiken, Ohio started a ruckus after receiving his order, according to the Aiken Standard. Dissatisfied at the temperature or quality of his waffle fries, he ran over to a drive-thru employee and threw the fries in the workers' face.

When a manager rushed out to address the assault, the irate customer grabbed a cane from his car and began hitting her with it. In what sounds like a scene from a bizarre David Lynch flick, passers-by and other customers came to the manager's rescue. One produced a small hatchet and threw it at the attacker. It struck him in the back, but this did not stop him from continuing to punch the manager in the face. Witnesses had to pull him off of her.

When police arrived at the scene, the man was bleeding and had been restrained "by several witnesses." The manager had bruises on her body and face, but was treated and has since been released from the hospital. She is back at work. Her attacker, meanwhile, is still undergoing treatment at Georgia Regents University. According to his wife, he is schizophrenic, and has been off his medication for several weeks. This was unconfirmed by police and management at Chick-fil-A who have not confirmed charges or legal action with the press.

It's sad that so many fast food customers resort to violence when vexed by their order. In September, a man ordered a sandwich with an egg on it. When it came without the egg, he threatened to shoot the employees and burn down the restaurant. Last December, a man pointed a gun at McDonald's employees who got his order wrong. McDonald's is frequently the scene of gun crime. Earlier this week a customer shot another customer in the arm; this didn't stop the man who was shot from eating his meal. According to witnesses, he even refused treatment at a local hospital, "He didn't care. He took it like a soldier."
