Adding melted chocolate chips as a top layer means the pie will get hard on top with a smooth, custardy layer underneath.
Ingredients
Prepared pie shell
1 can pumpkin
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
1 teaspoon ginger
1/2 teaspoon allspice
pinch salt
2 eggs
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 12-ounce bag semi-sweet chocolate chips, chopped (divided into half)
Preparation
Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
Chop the chocolate chips and divide in half.
Mix all ingredients together, using only half the chocolate chips.
Pour in unbaked pie shell.
Bake at 425 degrees for 15 minutes.
After 15 minutes, drop it to 350 degrees for 35 minutes.
After pie has baked, take the other half of the bag of chocolate chips, melted, and spread it over the top.
Let cool and serve.
