And, Bernie Sanders gets and endorsement from Ben & Jerry's.
— For Starbucks fans hoping to get ahold of one of the coffee giant's sterling silver loyalty cards, someone on Craigslist Albuquerque has one up for sale. The cards typically check out at $200, but this profit hound is seeking $225. That's a steep price, for a coffee card, but at least there's already $50 loaded on it.
— The Wall Street Journal digs into Dominique Ansel's new all-dessert tasting menu, which offers eight dessert and drink pairings "designed to evoke various firsts throughout life." Among the over-the-top dishes: raspberry liquid inside a smooth (female skin) or rough (male stubble) bowl meant to mimic a first kiss, and a pastry with sauce that has the appearance of beef Wellington.
— Blaze Pizza, a "Chipotle-style pizza chain" that is trying to put a hurt on traditional delivery pizza chains, is about to open its first store outside the U.S. Blaze will plant an outpost in Toronto, and it hopes to launch "60 to 70" new locations this year. Describing the chain's concept, president and COO Jim Mizes broke out the ever-important "M" word: "Until recently, your only options were the big, traditional pizza chains or sit-down restaurants. "We wanted to build something with a modern twist that would resonate with millennials." Blaze Pizza got its start in Los Angeles, and the company's investors include well-known personalities such as LeBron James and Maria Shriver.
— Bernie Sanders, self-described socialist presidential candidate and pain in Hillary Clinton's ass, has pulled in a big endorsement from his home state. Ben Cohen, the Ben in Ben & Jerry's, is endorsing the senator from Vermont. It appears that Cohen will attempt to bribe voters with ice cream, and he told supporters at a rally Sunday, "Whenever I come somewhere, I have to come with ice cream. What's the ice cream man without the ice cream?"
— Fried chicken icon Chick-fil-A is doubling down on one of its menu items that can actually be considered healthy. The chain has launched a new Greek yogurt parfait, which has half the sugar and twice the protein — seven grams in each serving — of the previous yogurt parfait per ounce. The new and improved dish is made from all-natural ingredients with no preservatives, artificial colors, or flavors.
— Another sign of the times: A McDonald's located inside a Hoover, Ala., Walmart is being replaced by Burger King. The franchise group that operated the McDonald's told al.com that it was no longer profitable. The switcheroo continues a trend that has seen Burger King and McDonald's heading in opposite directions.
