Restaurant-Themed Soap Opera 'Hungry' Coming to Fox

It will center around an ambitious chef who lands a "thankless job as a line cook" for a famous NYC chef.

Brace, world, for you are soon getting a food-themed soap. According to Variety, Marti Noxon — the creator of Bravo's Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce and Lifetime's unREAL — is developing a new series with Fox titled "Hungry." The hourlong drama is set in the "down and dirty, cutthroat, and exciting restaurant world of New York City."

The show centers around a young and ambitious chef who "lands the thankless job as a line cook for one of Manhattan's most famous" culinary superstars. There are no details regarding a premiere date yet or who the cast might include, but Eater is taking bets now on which chef the show's culinary superstar might most closely resemble. Bobby Flay? Guy Fieri? David Chang?

Fox appears to be digging its heels into food programming. The network just inked a new two-year contract with shouty chef Gordon Ramsay. The chef's MasterChef series, and its MasterChef Junior spinoff, have been incredibly successful programs for Fox and will likely remain on the air for at least another two years.
