Starbucks Is About to Charge More for Your Morning Cup of Joe

The chain's prices will go up on Tuesday.

For caffeine addicts who make Starbucks a part of their daily routine, the habit is about to get a little more expensive. The Seattle-based giant is planning to increase prices across its beverage menu, reports the Associated Press, raising the cost of a large coffee 10 cents to $2.45 in most areas of the country.

In a statement to the AP, Starbucks said it's attempting to "balance the need to run our business profitably while continuing to provide value to our loyal customers and to attract new customers." Most of the chain's affected drinks will cost 5 to 20 cents more than their current prices.

If there's any silver lining at the moment, it's that most of the increases will be applied to hot beverages. Anyone choosing to stay cool while getting their caffeine fix with iced coffee drinks likely won't be affected. Starbucks reportedly won't hike prices for any of its food items.

Starbucks last increased prices a little more than a year ago, raising the cost of its beverages 10 to 15 cents higher than previous levels.
