You'll probably only need half of your paycheck.
Soon you may actually be able to afford shopping at Whole Foods on the regular: The grocer is preparing to launch its more-approachably-priced offshoot, 365 by Whole Foods, with the first five stores slated to debut in 2016. According to Specialty Food, said stores will be located in Los Angeles; Santa Monica, Calif.; Portland, Ore.; Houston, Texas; and Bellevue, Wash., "with plans to double [the amount of stores] in 2017."
As previously reported, the 365 stores — which are angling for that all-important millennial demographic — will prominently feature Whole Foods' existing line of store brand products, called 365 Everyday, alongside other national brands; the stores will also have a smaller footprint than regular Whole Foods stores.
With sales growth in a slump thanks to a recent overcharging scandal and stiff competition from other retailers like Costco, Whole Foods is no doubt thirsty to bring in new shoppers who have previously dismissed it as too expensive.
