He was celebrating his wedding anniversary in Venice.
Some people are afraid to send food back in restaurants for fear the staff will retaliate by spitting in it, but a restaurant in Venice took things to a whole new level. A Belgian tourist who was unhappy about the way his steak was cooked refused to pay for it and summarily had his ass kicked by a group of waiters, says news site The Local.
The man and his wife were dining at a restaurant called Trattoria Casanova on Monday when he complained "about the way his steak had been cooked." The staff reportedly replaced the steak with a new one, but the man refused to pay for it — at which point he was allegedly attacked by "three or four" waiters. The tourist sustained a black eye and broken teeth and spent the night in the hospital.
Sadly enough, it's not the first time an incorrect food order has spurred violence: A pregnant woman is suing Dairy Queen, claiming a worker beat her up after she complained about her Blizzard not being chocolatey enough, and a retired Army general was arrested for allegedly attacking a Chinese food delivery person who brought the wrong order.
