Michelin Reveals 2016 Stars for Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo

Four restaurants snagged their first star this time around

Headed to the Summer Olympics this year and want to know where to dine? You're in luck, because restaurant guidebook publisher Michelin just unveiled its latest star ratings for Brazil.

Last year saw the inaugural edition of the Brazil guide, which focuses on the cities of Rio de Janeiro (where the Olympic games will kick off in August) and São Paulo. Like last year, no Brazil restaurants have been awarded three stars; Alex Atala's D.O.M. remains the only two-star establishment in the country. There are four new one-star restaurants, however — in Rio de Janeiro there's Eleven Rio, featuring international cuisine by chefs Joachim Koerper and Paulo Leite; and in São Paulo, three new additions: Brazilian restaurant Esquina Mocotó; Kan Suke, a Japanese restaurant inside a shopping mall; and Tête á Tête, which focuses on local products and has barely been open a year.

The guide also features Michelin's Bib Gourmand selections (less expensive restaurants recognized as great values) and hotel recommendations, with the guide including a total of 160 restaurants and 44 hotels across the two cities.
