Starbucks Emoji Are Here

Finally, you can text a tiny image of a Frappuccino

No one has time to type out words in a text message anymore — or make an actual phone call, for that matter. With today's fast-paced mobile communicators in mind, Seattle-based coffee giant Starbucks has released its very own emoji keyboard. The keyboard is available for iOS and Android via Apple's App Store and the Google Play Store.

Is there already a coffee emoji on iPhones and Android devices? Yes, of course there is. But with this new keyboard, hardcore 'Bucks fans will be able to convey exactly what they want when suggesting a coffee date with a friend. Various Starbucks beverages are represented, and there are a few traditional emoji — "traditional emoji;" modern life is amazing — that have been revamped to fit in the company's brand. "Person raising hands in celebration" paired with a coffee drink seems to be the standout here.

Starbucks markets the keyboard as providing "hot new emojis for summer." This coincides with the return of its seasonal S'mores Frappuccino, which is made with marshmallow-infused whipped cream, milk chocolate sauce, and graham cracker crumble. The drink is available through the end of summer at participating stores in the United States and Canada.

Starbucks may be expanding its mobile presence to take advantage of the unexpected success of its mobile order and pay app. Chief digital officer Adam Brotnam says the app is responsible for "over 10 percent of all orders at our busiest stores," which contributed to the company's recently announced $5 billion quarter.
