Wahlburgers Expands to Las Vegas; Myrtle Beach Gets a 'Science Lab' Restaurant

Plus, London's newest high-end Japanese concept.

— Wahlburgers, the burger chain owned by actor Mark Wahlberg and his brothers that is also the subject of an A&E reality show, can't stop expanding. According to Eater Las Vegas, the brothers announced that they will open their first Las Vegas location within Grand Bazaar Shops located on The Strip. The 5,000-square foot restaurant will have a walk-up window for cocktails and a 600-square foot patio. It will also have a retail store where eager customers can buy overpriced Wahlburger-branded key chains and shot glasses.

— London is getting a new Japanese restaurant: Chef Yoshihiro Murata, who owns three Michelin-starred restaurants in Kyoto and Tokyo including Kikunoi, is opening Tokimeite later this year. The three floor restaurant will be operated by Zen-Noh Group, which is the "business arm of Japan's largest agricultural cooperative, JA." Murata plans to showcase "premium Japanese products" like wagyu beef, whiskey, and sake throughout the menu. As for the restaurant itself, it will feature an open kitchen and an open robata grill. Plus, there will be a chef's table.

— Myrtle Beach, S.C. will soon get a "science lab"-themed restaurant. Called The Chemist, the restaurant "will be formulated around its name." While there are few details regarding the menu, Chef Sean Thomas appears to be a fan of molecular gastronomy techniques like making ice cream using liquid nitrogen. The restaurant will also have 16 craft beers on tap. The Chemist is set to open September 15.
