Trump has made offensive comments about Mexican immigrants in the past.
Presidential hopeful and Oreo abstainer Donald Trump has accepted news anchor Geraldo Rivera's invitation to eat at a Mexican restaurant. According to the Washington Examiner, Rivera feels that Trump has been "demonized" and that people haven't met the "real" him. Trump managed to create quite a stir and offend a number of people when he declared that in many cases Mexican immigrants are "criminals, drug dealers, [and] rapists." In response, he was banned from restaurants and Chicago's 5 Rabbit Cerveceria refused to brew his special Trump Tower Beer.
Rivera invited The Donald to dinner on his radio show earlier this week saying that Trump should go to a Mexican restaurant "to meet the people who work there": "We'll have some rice and beans. You'll meet some of my relatives. These are nice, law-abiding people." Trump accepted the invite, agreeing that he had been demonized and that he shouldn't be because "he employed many Hispanics."
Let's hope that Trump realizes his willingness to eat in a Mexican restaurant doesn't negate his offensive comments. Plus, there is no guarantee Trump will actually show up. Rivera tells the Washington Examiner that he hopes the dinner will "actually happen."
