Dinosaur Bar-B-Que's Expansion Plans, In-N-Out Eyes Oregon; More

Plus, a new restaurant from a two-time James Beard Award nominee.

James Beard Award nominee Chris Kobayashi and his brother Mike (Artisan, Paso Robles, Cali.) are launching their second venture on the West Coast. Their new breakfast and lunch restaurant Kitchenette opens today (September 1) in the former Roost Café in Templeton, Cali. The menu is described as new American fare and will include breakfast items like a fried egg B.L.T.A. and lunch dishes like a turkey banh mi. The restaurant is open from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. from Monday through Friday; weekend brunch is served on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Pitmaster John Stage is bringing Dinosaur Bar-B-Que south, and will open its tenth location in Fells Point, Baltimore on September 22. The 7,750 square-foot-space that will house the barbecue joint was a warehouse where wooden Coke bottle boxes were once manufactured. The restaurant will seat 250 and offer its signature barbecue menu with accompanying dishes like an iceberg wedge, barbecue fried rice, and baked beans.

In-N-Out is about to open its first location in Oregon and Carl Van Fleet, the company's vice president of planning and development, hints there will be more than one location in Oregon. He wrote, "As far as other Oregon sites are concerned, eventually we'd like to open more restaurants, but, again, it is just too early to project any other sites besides Medford."
