The 10 Hottest Restaurants in Florence, Italy Right Now

Where to eat in the gorgeous Tuscan capital.

Today, Eater makes its first-ever visit to Florence, Italy to discover the newest drinking and dining destinations the Tuscan capital has to offer. "Florence — and Italy in general — is an incredibly difficult place to open any sort of establishment," says food writer/culinary tour guide/Curious Appetite creator Coral Sisk, who shares her picks for the new(ish) restaurants and cafes that have the city buzzing. But "despite Olympic-style obstacle courses," Sisk notes, "in the last few years, the city has seen a wave of hot and new restaurants, including these 10 in just 2015 alone."

In recent months, the city's been highlighting its own unique takes on everything from American-style gourmet burgers (Polpa Burger Trattoria) to intentionally inauthentic pizza (Berberè) to "tasting rooms" for Italian artisans (Culinaria Bistrot). Also on Sisk's hotlist: a spinoff of Siena's Michelin-starred stunner from chef Antonello Sardi (La Bottega Del Buon Caffè), a modern-leaning restaurant housed in a 16th-century mediegal building (Locale), and a Florentine location of the historic Venice restaurant Caffè Florian.
