— Shake Shack's quest to take over the burger world continues, and the Upper Midwest is Danny Meyer's next target. The Shack will open its first Minnesota outpost inside the Mall of America in Minneapolis, with a targeted launch in summer 2016. Twin Cities locals seem to be excited about the idea of Shake Shack coming to town, but the location inside a mega-mall isn't as thrilling.
— Remember the Coolest cooler, the Kickstarter bonanza that raised millions of dollars? Turns out, even eight figures wasn't enough to keep the company afloat. Coolest is selling its product on Amazon for $499 in an attempt to "keep the lights on" and "make certain that every single backer's Coolest can get made and shipped." Coolest backers were supposed to receive their coolers by February 2015, but now the company hopes to fulfill its obligations by April 2016.
— René Redzepi, Ferran Adrià, Daniel Humm, Mario Batali, and Alain Ducasse are some of the biggest chefs in the world, and meals at their restaurants typically don't come cheap. But during the Milan Expo 2015 last month, each culinary pro donated time and food to a soup kitchen. The project came from Massimo Bottura of Osteria Francescana in Moderna, Italy.
— Mobile payments for food and beverages may be the future, but sometimes they result in $210 overdraft fees. That's what happened to one Taco Bell fan who paid for 13 orders via the company's mobile app in October, only to have all of the charges post to his bank account on the same day. Fortunately, the fees were canceled and Taco Bell refunded the purchases, though that occurred only after Consumerist reached out to the company on the customer's behalf.
— Six new floats will join the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade this year, highlighted by Kentucky Fried Chicken's Colonel. No word on whether the float will be modeled after Darrell Hammond or Norm MacDonald.
