Artist Damien Hirst Unveils Pharmacy-Themed London Restaurant

Wash your Prozac down with a nice espresso martini.

Damien Hirst, the iconic British artist known for suspending sharks in formaldehyde and encrusting human skulls with hundreds of diamonds, is now officially a restaurateur. Hirst has teamed up with London chef Mark Hix to open a pharmacy-themed restaurant at the artist's Newport Street Gallery; Pharmacy2 officially opens for business next Tuesday.

From the shelves full of various medications to the chairs and banquettes decked out with various colorful pills, the restaurant looks vaguely like the inside of a pharmacy — if your pharmacist was a very wealthy art collector, that is. While the decor is a little wacky, the menu seems fairly straightforward, with dishes like mushroom risotto, fish and chips, steak, and creme brulee.

It's not the first opportunity for diners to be surrounded by Hirst's artwork: Hix has another London restaurant called Tramshed that features one of Hirst's famed animals-suspended-in-formaldehyde pieces, this one of a rooster sitting atop a cow. (The restaurant specializes in steak and chicken.)
