Move over, Candy Crush.
Is Gordon Ramsay the next Kim Kardashian? We're not talking about the reality TV star's selfie book or butt-shaped cookies, but rather, her smash hit mobile game that's reportedly raking in hundreds of millions of dollars a year. According a press release, the shouty celebrity chef has signed a deal with Glu Mobile Inc. — the same company behind Kim Kardashian: Hollywood, as well as a game for Katy Perry — to develop a game featuring his "name, image, likeness, voice, and creative direction."
There's still no word yet on exactly what type of Ramsay-inspired game Glu will develop, but the company has experience designing free, cooking-inspired time management games such as Diner Dash and Cooking Dash, which requires players to "prepare, cook, assemble and service" a menu quickly "in front of a live studio audience." (Sounds an awful lot like Hell's Kitchen, actually.) Ramsay's game is poised for a summer 2016 release; Eater has reached out for more details.
Gordon Ramsay isn't the only chef to take an over-exposed page out of Kim Kardashian's book. Last March, disgraced TV chef and Dancing With the Stars flasher Paula Deen launched a mobile game called Paula Deen's Recipe Quest. The game takes players through Deen's career history from ambitious home cook to restaurant owner, though it notably leaves out her firing from the Food Network for using racist language. With any luck, Ramsay's app will allow users to wander around their multi-million dollar mansions in terrycloth bathrobes.
