Shake Shack's Tokyo Invasion Continues With a Second Location This Spring

And more are coming.

Fancy fast food darling Shake Shack is spreading like wildfire. The beloved burger chain founded by zero-gratuity pioneer Danny Meyer opened its first location in Japan to great fanfare last November at the famed famed Meiji-Jingu Gaien park in Tokyo's Aoyama district, and now specifics for a second Tokyo outpost have been revealed: Per JapanToday, it will open at the Atre Ebisu Nishikan shopping mall in the Shibuya district this spring. A Shake Shack rep tells Eater, "We’re excited to confirm a mid-2016 opening in Ebisu."

Though Shake Shack only entered the Japanese market three months ago, it's already won a devoted following for its burgers and fries (the pingpong tables probably don't hurt either). JapanToday notes that "Two months on, the lines in front of the store do not seem to be any shorter," with waits often extending more than an hour. Good thing the company has a total of ten stores planned for Japan by 2020. Meanwhile, Shake Shack's poised for further Asian expansion as it prepares to enter Seoul, South Korea this year; it plans to have 25 South Korean outposts by 2025.
