Drive-Thru Rage Spiral Culminates in Assault of Burger King Worker

Everyone expects their fast food to be fast — but a pair of drive-thru customers in Florida took impatience to a whole new level last night, ending in the assault of an employee. According to The Smoking Gun, two customers at a Burger King in Bradenton, Fla. who were upset at how long their order was taking abandoned their vehicle, rushing inside the restaurant to verbally berate the staff. Per a police report, "One suspect jumped the counter and grabbed items from behind the counter" — not to steal, but to throw around the restaurant.

When the two men fled the restaurant, a 46-year-old worker followed, simultaneously calling the police on his cell phone. One of the irate customers punched him in the jaw and threw his phone, smashing it, before the two men fled in their Ford Ranger. The suspects are still at large, and police are in the process of obtaining surveillance video from the Burger King.

The police report doesn't mention what the men ordered, which means the world will never know whether it was a wait for Chicken Fries or perhaps the inimitable extra-long cheeseburger that sent the hungry duo into a rage spiral. Perhaps it's time for drive-thru windows to step up their security measures: Last month a Chick-fil-A customer who was disappointed in his waffle fries threw them in the drive-thru worker's face. But sometimes the outburst comes from the other side of the window, however, as evidenced by a recent Tim Horton's incident that involved a worker hurling Timbits (aka doughnut holes) and coffee at a customer.
