McDonald's Japan Unveils Monstrous 48-Piece McNugget Bucket

It's a limited-time promo with a J-pop group.

Are you sick of finishing an 1,880-calorie McDonald's 40-piece McNugget bucket feeling like you're still hungry? Do you need exactly eight more wads of processed chicken to feel satisfied? McDonald's Japan has the answer with its new 48-piece McNugget meal. The deal is a promotional tie-in in Niigata Prefecture with Japanese pop group NGT48, a name which apparently looks enough like the word "nugget" that people have been calling the group "Nugget 48."

Each meal will come with a commemorative card featuring one of the 25 members of the enormous pop group, which means fans will have to order a minimum of 1,200 McNuggets to stand a chance of collecting them all without resorting to eBay. The limited-time offer — which is more than twice the size of Japan's next-biggest chicken nugget meal of a paltry 15 pieces — launches in December for 1,800 Yen (roughly $15) and should make the next McDonald's fashion show that much more interesting.
