Pay for your Extra Crispy with Apple Pay, Android Pay, or Samsung Pay
Provided you own a smartphone, forgetting your wallet at home isn't nearly the hassle it used to be. Thanks to mobile payment services like Apple Pay, paying for everything from lunch to new shoes requires only a few taps of a screen, and the latest restaurant chain to roll out mobile payment options is KFC.
Per a press release, the Colonel is now accepting Apple Pay, Android Pay, and Samsung Pay at select U.S. locations, with plans for a nationwide rollout by the end of summer; said payment options will be available at drive-thru windows, too.
The mobile payments launch is part of KFC's current revitalization plan, which includes hiring various well-known actors to resurrect Colonel Sanders and giving 70 percent of its U.S. stores a makeover involving chalkboard menus and chicken bucket chandeliers. The ultimate goal? Wooing millennials, obviously. The chain says according to its data, three out of five members of Generation Y have never eaten at a KFC.
Other chains adopting Apple Pay this year include Starbucks and Chili's as well as Chick-fil-A and Au Bon Pain.
