The Japanese Government Has Hatched a Plan to Raise Eggs With White Yolks

Gives a whole new meaning to “egg whites.”

The Japanese government is feeding hens white rice in an effort to boost rice consumption — and therefore rice production — in the country. Due to their rice-heavy diets, the hens lay eggs with whitish yolks compared to chickens that lay eggs with yellow yolks because they eat mostly imported corn. The Kometsuya eggs are "naturally sweet" and are gaining recognition, which means the phrase "like white on rice," may soon be interchangeable with "like white on yolks."
