How inglorious
Much has been made of the budding partnership between presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and former candidate Chris Christie. The New Jersey governor has been forced to explain that no, he isn't being held hostage by Trump. Now, it appears Christie's duties with the campaign are a little less prestigious than what he imagined he'd be doing when he announced his own candidacy.
Writing about the current state of the Republican Party, The New Yorker's Ryan Lizza noted the sad state of Christie's affairs.
Governor Chris Christie, of New Jersey, another of Trump's opponents early in the campaign, has transformed himself into a sort of manservant, who is constantly with Trump at events. (One Republican told me that a friend of his on the Trump campaign used Snapchat to send him a video of Christie fetching Trump's McDonald's order.)
That's right. Christie is now a "manservant" who picks up McDonald's when Trump gets a Big Mag craving. The political surrogate likely has to make a run to the Golden Arches pretty often considering Trump's affinity for the chain. It isn't clear if Christie ran out to get the meal that Trump ate when he celebrated winning a majority of primary delegates last month.
