Thankfully no employees or diners were injured.
2015 didn't end on such a great note for chef icon and restaurant empresario Wolfgang Puck: The Dubai location of his high-dollar steakhouse, Cut by Wolfgang Puck, was destroyed in a fire on New Year's Eve.
The restaurant was located on the 10th floor of a 63-story luxury hotel known as The Address Downtown Dubai. According to TimeOut Dubai, the massive fire began on the building's 20th floor, though there doesn't seem to be any definitive report just yet on what caused it.

The Las Vegas Sun reports the 20th floor fire "[sent] blazing embers and fiery fascia pieces reigning down on the 10th floor patio of Cut." Staff and diners were quickly evacuated and thankfully no one was injured; however, 14 people elsewhere in the hotel sustained minor injuries from the fire.
Per The National, the hotel and its restaurants will be closed "indefinitely" following the blaze. Eater has reached out to Wolfgang Puck's restaurant group for comment. Cut has five other locations: Las Vegas, Beverly Hills, Singapore, London, and Bahrain.
Puck's not the only big-time chef and restaurateur to be affected by fire in recent years: David Kinch's two Michelin-starred California restaurant Manresa suffered major damage from a fire in mid-2014, but reopened on New Year's Eve of that year. And back in 2013, Alice Waters' legendary Chez Panisse was hit by an electrical fire, but reopened a few months later.
