A Documentary About Chef Jeremiah Tower Is Coming Soon to a Theater Near You

A biographical look at the trailblazing California chef.

Get your popcorn ready: A documentary about legendary chef Jeremiah Tower is coming to theaters this year. CNN Films is co-producing the as-of-yet-unnamed film, which promises to be a biographical look at the self-taught chef who rose to fame at Alice Waters' hallowed Chez Panisse in the '70s and went on to found San Francisco's famed Stars restaurant in the mid-'80s.

Directing the film is Lydia Tenaglia, co-founder and executive producer for Zero Point Zero, the production company behind Anthony Bourdain's CNN series Parts Unknown, as well as PBS's Mind of a Chef.

Tower raised plenty of eyebrows when he emerged from retirement in 2014 to assume the role of executive chef at the newly revamped Tavern on the Green, New York City's iconic Central Park restaurant. The made-over restaurant was largely panned by critics, and Tower exited that project after just a few months, leaving the food world with plenty of questions that perhaps this upcoming film will help to answer.
