McDonald’s McPick2 Is Changing Again

More options, depending on local favorites

Months after America's golden-arched fast-food giant switched up its value menu, raising the price from $2 to $4 to $5, another change is on its way. McDonald's will now try to account for variability in popular menu items across the country by allowing restaurants to choose which items are available on the McPick2 menu, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The change will debut next week, featuring three set menu items — the Big Mac, the Filet-O-Fish, and the 10-piece chicken McNuggets — along with three additional itmes that will be added at the discretion of individual franchises.

When it first appeared in January, the McPick2 cost $2 and was meant to run for a limited time. It was the chain's answer to eliminating the dollar menu. Since it debuted, the McPick2 has gone through a number of iterations, dumping mozzarella sticks from the options list in the process.

The deal now costs $5, though some locations are adopting a $4 standard, pricing it higher among other fast-food value menus, including the Wendy's 4 for $4 menu and Burger King's 5 for $4 deal.
