Paula Deen Is Getting in the Fashion Business

Paula Deen's closet is open for business

Already a Southern-fried icon of buttercelebrity dancing, and racism, Paula Deen is adding another label to her brand: fashion designer. Paula Deen's Closet is up and running at online shopping destination Evine, reports WWD, and the former Food Network star hopes it will serve as an answer to one of her fans' biggest questions: "Where did you get that top?"

"If I have something that all my friends out there want, I want to be able to bring it to them for a reasonable price," Deen told WWD. "I think I share my body with a lot of women out there who are not a size 4. We want nice-looking, comfortable clothes. They look like they're dry cleaned but are washable."

It sounds like the new clothing line is another effort by Deen to prove she's just like you, regular Americans. In a previous feud with globe-trotting ex-chef Anthony Bourdain, Deen stuck up for her cooking by declaring, "You know, not everybody can afford to pay $58 for prime rib or $650 for a bottle of wine. My friends and I cook for regular families who worry about feeding their kids and paying the bills." It's worth noting Deen has paid her bills in part by shilling for pharmaceuticals and stealing recipes.

As for Paula Deen's Closet, the Evine shop currently lists 15 items available, with prices ranging from $34.50 for a "stretch knit sleeveless draped-neck tank top" to $59.75 for a "woven three-quarter-sleeved metallic detailed hook-front jacket." A variety of shirts, cardigans, dresses, and pants makes up the inventory.

WWD notes Evine takes inspiration directly from Deen's actual closet, which, unlike most regular Americans, she boasts as 18 feet by 20 feet with a "moving dry-cleaning rack" for easy access to garments.
